Five questions are worth asking any pest control company in British Columbia, including us. None are difficult to answer, and a company that hesitates on them is telling you something.
Are the technicians certified, and in which category? Most professional products in B.C. are restricted-class, so only a certified applicator may buy or apply them. Certificates come from the province under the Pesticide Applicator Certificate programme, and Structural is the category for work in and around buildings. They expire and must be renewed.
Is the company insured, and for what? Ask about liability cover specifically. Treatment means working in crawlspaces, on roofs and around occupied living space, and you want to know who carries the risk if something is damaged.
What method will be used, and why that one? A good answer names the approach and the reason — gel bait and growth regulators for German cockroach rather than sprays, heat or targeted chemical for bed bugs, exclusion plus trapping for rodents. An answer that is only a product name is not an answer.
Is the quote in writing, and what does it cover? A single visit and a programme that includes the return visit are different products at different prices. Get the scope in writing before work starts.
What is the follow-up and guarantee policy? Ask what triggers a return visit, how long cover runs, and what you must do to stay eligible. Every guarantee in this industry has conditions — the useful question is whether the company states them up front.

If the pest we treated returns within 100 days of the original service, we come back and re-treat the affected areas at no additional charge. What you need to do to stay covered — follow the preparation and post-treatment instructions your technician gives you, complete any sanitation or exclusion steps we recommend, avoid over-the-counter sprays which interfere with bait-based treatment, and give us access for any follow-up visit. Severe infestations or structural problems can need corrective work beyond the treatment itself; your technician explains the scope before work begins.
